Description
In November 2003, the Department of Linguistics and Literature, the Department of Philosophy and History, and the Department of Economics and Law organized a conference at the Academy, Past - Present - Future; The role of the social sciences in the changing world is to examine how these sciences can provide valid answers to the questions raised by the age and especially by the turn of the century. The volume contains five presentations from what was said. Two in linguistics, two in literary studies and one in theater studies. Not creating a close logical order between the presentations, but still hinting at some content connection. The authors of the studies: László Honti, Árpád Kékesi Kun, Ádám Nádasdy, György Poszler and Mihály Szegedy-Maszák. Where are the limits of science? How and where can pseudoscience be separated from science? The connections between the methodology and ethics of science can emerge in the answers given in the lectures. The requirements of the knowledge of the "craft" and the purity of the procedures. Well, the published presentations do not, and cannot, give ready or believed ready answers to these questions, but they strive to formulate the questions clearly, and thus they can promote fruitful further thinking.
